I had been using these two great tools for years and had forgotten to blog about it. Domain Hole and NameCheckList are two great tools that will make your life much simpler when you need to select a name for your startup. I used to spend hours searching Mydomain.com, twitter and facebook trying to see if the name we brainstormed is actually available. Yes of cause, all social handles are ultra important for your startup, we all know that. These two tools have cut the time I have spent on finding good brand names from hours to minutes.

An extension to the popular open-source web browser Firefox, Zotero includes the best parts of older reference manager software (like EndNote) — the ability to store author, title, and publication fields and to export that information as formatted references—and the best parts of modern software and web applications (like iTunes and del.icio.us), such as the ability to interact, tag, and search in advanced ways.
Zotero integrates tightly with online resources; it can sense when users are viewing a book, article, or other object on the web, and—on many major research and library sites—find and automatically save the full reference information for the item in the correct fields. Since it lives in the web browser, it can effortlessly transmit information to, and receive information from, other web services and applications; since it runs on one’s personal computer, it can also communicate with software running there (such as Microsoft Word). And it can be used offline as well (e.g., on a plane, in an archive without WiFi).
As we all know, the technology has changed how businesses operate forever. Some of the Small Businesses have either had to shut down the whole operation or made incredible results with along with Technology. Within last 10 years, businesses had to change the way they communicate, advertise and how the whole operation worked from inside.
Let’s look a little deeper in to this process and what has changed.
Communication: While the communication before was done with telephone, fax or snail mail, several new segments were added to the equation such as email, chat, the website and social networking via internet. The potential customer who’s in Arizona doesn’t need to visit your store in New Jersey order the paintings you have done; instead, he or she will login to your website to see what they look like.
· Marketing & Advertising: The local Business Directory was a must include back in the days to get new leads. With the boom of internet, it has changes how you do your marketing as well. From Pay-per-Click ads Google Adwords to Business Directories such as Yahoo Pages, you have whole new ways of getting sales leads from all over the world. Services like email marketing will reach thousands of potential clients in seconds. You don’t have to spend much money on marketing just like when you sent catalogs via standard snail-mail.

Think of the costs dealing with sales leads and the hectic calls-backs you had to deal with. Things have changed in numerous ways. You can say ‘Good Bye!’ to your long hours on accounts; you can simply get an on-demand service or standard desktop software like Quickbooks to take care of most of the accounting aspects. You can deal with sales leads via internet. You don’t have to spend hours on call-backs and waste phone bills thinking that you would be able to convince your potential customer who has never seen you to buy something just after hearing the explanation that was done over a telephone.
E-Business is expected to double by 2012. Both Employers and the Employees have several ways to get used to the new trends that Information Technology has given. Employers have responsibilities to learn and ‘do-your-research’ on Information Technology before you advise employees on how to do their marketing, customer care or whatever the business process they are involved in. If you are not IT-Savvy, you cannot get a quality return from your employees, with the use of IT in your business.
